Faith No More at Rock In Idro Milan

June 14, 2009

First video and photo from Rock In Idro has been posted online. The Musica Metal blog has a nice series of photos here and the video above if also from the same source.

And that’s a wrap. No surprise the set was shorter at 19 as its like an oven in here. Great show again with Patton’s patter in Italian getting a real rapport going with the Milanese metallers and more. That’s all from me. Reviews and reaction later.

As they come back for the encore, Patton says in perfect Italian:”I’m too old for this shit. ”

Spine-tingling vocals for the Bee Gees cover. What a voice.

Roddy dries off with a towel during his break for GAOME. It is very, very, very hot and he looks fucked.

An instrumental interlude in Midlife Crisis! Definitely not Sweet Dreams; it reminded me of an old TV theme tune.

Patton appoints the audience as judges on Italian Idol in Italian as he launches into an Italian version of Evidence.

Mike P empties a bottle of water  over his head and waves his cane windmill style as the heat and intensity rise.

Greetings in fluent Italian from Mike P. “Tutto bene” is all I understood.

Mike P has the cane back and a dramatic silver metallic effect suit as we start in familiar stylem

1. Reunited
2. The Real Thing
3. From Out of Nowhere
4. Land of Sunshine
5. Caffeine
6. Evidence (Italian)
7. Chinese Arithmetic (Poker Face)
8. Surprise You’re Dead
9. Easy
10. Ashes to Ashes
11. Midlife Crisis

14. I Started a Joke
15. King for a Day…
16. Be Aggressive
17. Epic

18. Chariots of Fire/ Stripsearch
19. We Care a Lot

Just got a glimpse of a monk in full long brown clerical garb and flowing white beard walking along the side of the stage. One of the most incongruous sights I’ve ever seen at a rock festival. The roadies and techs are finalising stage preparations; a modified version of the red curtain and pelmet returns.Have opted against the mosh pit because (a) it is about 37 degrees Celsius in here (b) the first ten rows have been claimed since before Lacuna Coil and (c) I have a unique view across the stage – I’m about 20 feet directly to the right of Roddy’s keyboards.

Fred Durst leads Limp Bizkit on stage replete with trademark red baseball cap and a new Faith No More version 2.0 t-shirt. Never been a huge Bizkit fan but they’ve really got the crowd going here.

Faith No More down to do a 90-minute set from 2300 until 0030 CET.

Just arrived at the Palasharp on the outskirts of the city. The whole event here has the definite shambolic air of something that has been cobbled together at the last minute after the move from Idroscoula. Inside the venue is sauna-like in its heat with most taking refuge outside. Outside the main entrance is a huge array of unofficial t-shirts. Anyone for a purple FNM shirt with the KFAD album cover on front? Remember Faith No More on stage at 2300 CET.

Faith No More 2.0 has just arrived in a very, very hot Milan and will be making our way to the new indoor venue  at the Palasharp in via Sant’Elia 33 shortly. Latest news is that Faith No More will not be on stage until 2300 local time after Lacuna Coil and Limp Bizkit.

Crossing fingers that “Everything’s Ruined” will show up on the setlists soon – and in time for the Norway show. Not that it isn’t already goddamn BRILLIANT, of course. Only ten days to go! My god, I’m so excited.

Thanks for the report once again.

It may have been this guy you saw walking along the stage: – Brother Cesare Borgia, who is actually a metal singer himself.

Yeah it’s “Frate cesare”, or “brother metal” as he goes by, he’s an actual monk who loves metal. he recorded a cheesy metal album, and to be honest he’s a bit of an attention whore.
a joke for metalheads, a poster boy media freak for tv and magazines not into metal.

i’m about to upload the italian version of evidence.
sorry but i only recorded two songs… i am not abootlegger, just a “bringer of good concert memories” 🙂
