Faith No More Aussie special

August 14, 2009

In a belated tribute to the Soundwave announcement here are some YouTube vids and other goodies of Faith No More in Australia.
First up, Mike Patton being asked in an interview with Triple J about being invited by INXS to be their replacement front man.

Next, one we’ve featured before. Bill and Mike P being interviewed by Channel 7’s The Times in 1995.

Third, Faith No More on Aussie TV show Tonight Live With…

Next the lowdown on their last Aussie gig – 1 November 1997 in Perth – from the always invaluable Stefan Negele database/CV database. Read all about it here.
Edge of the World live in Melbourne August 1990.

Another – slightly painful – Mike Patton radio interview – from 1997.

And finally a stunning version of This Guy’s In Love with You from their last Aussie tour in 1997.

Anyway thanks for putting these up – great viewing/listening.

Ok, so here’s the deal. Aussie who saw FNM in 98, now living in the US. Majorly pissed that I am missing this Aus tour especially considering no US tour seems imminent. I hope the world our is a warm up to a US tour.

One thing strikes me after this collection of clips. The Aussies (ie Us) are god awful at doing interviews with Mike Patton. Richard Kingsmill is the only decent one and even he didn’t seem to handle Patton well, I recall that interview from a MIke Patton special on Triple J in 2001…..There is another slightly better one on triple J with during the KFAD tour with Bill Gould in 1995. Michael Tunn conducted that and it is available somewhere on youtube Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkHWFGT4Dok

I could cry even now with at least two concerts in the next fortnight and now a whole spate of soundwave gigs…im still sooo upset that I wasnt old enough to go to that very last australian show with my sisters :’o( One thing I never forgave mum for! I still have the AOTY shirt they got me.

Once again thank you for all think links! So nice to have them all in one place :o)

Miss Chievous, thanks doll! Yes we are overjoyed!

Oh Eric, i couldn’t agree more , man. The muppets that get to interview bands here, are shocking. Did you see the triple J interview with Mike in 2007? Cringe worthy!

It becomes abundantly clear how many of the tv and radio personalities don’t do their research and then during the interview, DONT LISTEN! :-O

Also bout the US, they have no plans as yet…but that could change! Here’s hoping for you

    Thanks Gezarie,
Please come to Washington DC FNM!
And pray Richard Wilkins or Molly Meldrum never get their hands on a FNM interview shot 😉
