Mexico huh…looks like it is no longer a South American tour. I hope that means that the U.S. is just around the corner. If they play Canada first it will just be twisted and crule.

So wait—Are they still playing Australia in Feb and March or were those just rumors still?
I’m trying to guage the possibility of when (not if!) they’re coming to the States….

JUst saw’em at download now I’ll go for two of the three dates in México. AWSOME!!!!!!

Why would it be twisted and cruel to play Canada first? One way or the other, I would definitely go to the Canada shows, because at least it will be easier for me to get photo passes for Montreal and Toronto as I have good connections with promoters there since I was based in Toronto for half a year in 2007 and I always have a great time.

    Hey all,

Australia is confirmed with tickets on sale for Soundwave Festival across the country from this Friday. It is a one day festival held in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide throughout Feb and beginning of march.

To U.S and Canadian fans, I spoke with the band, with their road manager and have been in touch with Greg from ipecac. They are not planning any US dates. This is not due to a disdain for America at all though! Simply the US offers are not there. Or not at this stage anyway.

If any of you can make it to the australian or south american shows I would recommend it. There will be non festival shows held in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

I hope to see some of you lovely people there!

Oh and Bobby B, tickets for some of the other SA dates like for Rio have already been on sale. Really feel for you US fans, i hope that in the end you guys get some shows late in the game

By now swine flu is known as Human flu AH1N1, and US have more preople with this disease than any other. Mexico just make it public earlier and take harder measures. No more risk to have the Flu here than in NYC

    Yeah we are …….

Ok, Sergio, fair enough. But what about the air quality in Mexico City. I read it’s one of the worst, second only to Tehran.

Anyhow, I think I’m gonna make the trip regardless (I’m in los angeles)

I’d be more concerned about the open gang warfare in Mexico.

The drug turf wars are insane, some 6,000 people were killed last year.

Huh. I just now noticed that the Mexican Drug War has it’s own wikipedia page.

One escalation in this conflict is the traffickers’ use of new means to claim their territory and spread fear. Cartel members have broadcast executions on YouTube,[36] tossed body parts into crowded nightclubs and hung banners on public streets.[37] The 2008 Morelia grenade attacks took place on September 15, 2008, when two hand grenades were thrown onto a crowded plaza, killing ten people and injuring more than 100.[38] Some see these efforts as intended to sap the morale of government agents assigned to crack down on the cartels; others see them as an effort to let citizens know who is winning the war.
At least one dozen Mexican norteño musicians have been murdered. Most of the victims performed what are known as narcocorrido, popular folk songs that tell the stories of the Mexican drug trade—and celebrate its leaders as folk heroes.[39]

“The people at the top of the food-chain, the very top organizers controlling this whole reunion tour, and for many other top bands, have heard the whisper from the top, and the word’s got ’round that the US is on the very brink of slipping, very soon, into a big nasty hole causing massive upheaval and unrest within that country in particular, making any sort of ‘good business’ opportunities mostly null and void. Not worthwhile or perhaps impossible. Or maybe they’ll announce dates tomorrow.”

This was a comment posted in the above post about the US dates. I would keep this message in mind if I lived in the USA because most musicians are going to stop touring in the US very soon if things really get bad up there. There are rumours of another collapse on the way so no musician/band is going to go there if the shit does hit the fan.

Lot’s of things were well said above, now, let me say a few more things. The whole world is in crisis, so the music business is facing some dark times. Those who wrote all the songs, recorded all the albums, did hundreds of gigs now facing problems with selling, youtube, file-sharing, that all causes huge minuses concerning their imagined income. What’s left for MJ, Madonna, BB King, Tom Jones etc… even, for FNM? Touring, my friends, that’s what makes incomes these days.

What’s a better bargain position: to go to a venue and say “here we are, tell me what we can earn for a show”, or to wait for a call from the venue that says “we want you to come over, what’s your price?”
It’s still BUSINESS… so, all you US fans, call all the festival managers and club owners to get those suitcases at hand, and give them the phonenumber of FNM tour manager…

And what’s wrong with this attitude? Is it wrong, that Queen (w. Paul Rodgers), Cher, Chris Rea, Phil Collins does a “best of” tour? Is it wrong if Led Zep or Pink Floyd appears somewhere for a few concerts, without new material, JUST BECAUSE they are who they are, and yes, also for the funking money? They are musicians, who wants to play (and now has to play) in front of huge crowds to bring the money home?

I think it’s not bad at all, in fact, it became how it should have always been. Sorry for saying that, but musicians (like other artists) shoul work, and work, and work for their money, that means, do concerts and shows, not simply waiting for the next transfer from some funked up label company.

I was happy to see them live in Europe, I hope they discuss doing some new shit… but I also happy with the old songs too. They still rock!

I don’t care to see them live anymore anyway. I’d rather they just record an album so I can stay home and listen to it. I’m a family man now…

On the previous comments page which is closed now, someone said they were playing 10,000 plus gigs in Australia. Well on the last tour they played Festival hall -,_Melbourne and mate – this venue was not 10,000 people.

In fact, I have seen Patton play with Bungle twice, Tomahawk twice and Fantomas Twice in Australia all at sideshows or their main tours and ALWAYS have these bands played in small venues like The Palace in Melbourne (which is no longer there). This place held 2000 people, tops.

I am really surprised by the decision not to tour the US, and now that I live here, a little miffed about it, but whatever. IMO they should use the time productively to record more music.

      Hey Margie,
I’m making the trip from the States and I got my ticket yesterday. It says de Pie section (standing) but it also says row G2. Does this mean I’m right up front as well in the “pit” area? What does your seating location say? Thanks for the help!

Hi Chris – mine says row G1. I’ve seen pix of the inside of Auditorio Telmex – there is standing room so I’m thinking the ‘rows’ are meaningless (fingers crossed!)

Another thing to consider regarding them playing Australia – Aussie dollar is worth less, so they can slice 10-15 percent off their cut depending on when they locked in their deal. They”ll play less shows overall in Australia than the US for sure – Consider capital cities for Soundwave plus sideshows – maybe 12-15 shows max for the tour. It’s got to be largely based on the promoters not giving a s*** here in the US or being more greedy. Aussie promoters are hungry for good performers and will take a less cut just to get a decent band in town.
