Faith No More break media silence

October 12, 2009

Faith No More have broken their self-imposed media blackout for the Second Coming tour with Bill Gould granting an interview to Chilean newspaper La Tercera. The FNM bassist speaks of the band’s love of Chile and plans for the future. Sample quote: [La Tercera:] “Can we think of new songs by Faith No More? [Bill:] I’d love that to happen, but it’s something to be solved once we finish the tour. For now we are enjoying playing, we’re having a great time.”

Babelfish translates entire web pages. And it’s really an internet site, free.

It worked on this page. 🙂

    I thought this was interesting.

“They prepare something special for South America?”

We are removing songs that we have not touched in the meeting tour. Certainly there will be covers but I will not say to you which. Every night will be different, is little, only two weeks.

… Crappy translation but it indicates that they’re going to mix it up for this leg of the tour.

Faith No more: ” greats moments of the band had happened in Chile”

Billy Gould, bass of band, speak of their return, of future and shows that they will make in Santiago.

In these days Faith No More take a breath. A weeks to rest before start the South American leg of second coming tour, tour return that in july revived the band, since 11 years of their broke. And in an inedit sign in the reunion of one of more relevant rock’s bands at 90’s, their bass and founder member, Billy Gould, interrupts his rest to speak with “La Tercera”. Highlight at start: ” in this tour we aren’t giving no interview, this case is special”, say the man in charge of 4 strings of band that in october 29 will offer a gala show in “Teatro Caupolicán” and next day will celebrate their reunion with masses in ” Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida”.
“we decided speak because what had happened in Chile is so crazy”, say Gould.
“Chile is one more special place for the band. I say seriously. Greats moments in history of band had happened in that place and we feel a energy very strong. We are very aware of expectation for our visit. If this isn’t be to Chile, we haven’t given this interview”, say the man will come together band for thirth time at country, after a rare debut in the “Festival de Viña” at 1991 and a return where they receiving thousand spit in agitated closure of “Festival Monster of Rock” at 1995 in “Teatro Caupolicán”.

    What you remember of Viña?
Viña was awesome. We thought it was a Rock Festival. When we started to play had a familiar audience than think we were a pop commercial band. Many people don’t understood us, many people hated us and were others who liked it our work. Definitively we don’t passed inadverted.

Do you remember the spit at 1995?
Was a madness. Had a energy very different to Viña.

    Bad energy?
no, no, contrary. It was a of more intense show i remember. Was a night where all is lighted, i remember we play very accelerated.

Do you prepare something special to south america?
We are arranging songs than had not played in reunion tour. Sure will be covers but i will not say which. Every night will be different, will soon, just two weeks.

What will happen with band after tour?
    Neither of us knows

    Really?
Yes, still we don’t sit to talk about this.

Can we think in new FNM’s songs?
I’d love it that will happen, but is something will solve when finish tour. For now we are enjoying play, we are having a great time.

You did a great job Praxi. Thank you for that. I am still pissed off at FNM for not playing the US. And if they do plan on playing here than I am pissed they have not said anything yet. There aren’t as many fans here in the US maybe but that just makes the ones that are here that much more loyal. And we deserve something for our loyalty.

we dont DESERVE anything. they dont have to do shit for us… But it would be nice. Im kicking myself for not getting to Europe in time(missed them by a few weeks).. But fingers still crossed… and toes.. and eyes(ouch)… for a US show!

I have a hard time believing none of them knows what is going to happen with the band after their tours end.
They just hate answering these types of questions.

US shows: Roddy hints that they will be playing San Francisco in April. There is also a big rumor they will be one of the headliners for Coachella 2010. Discuss.

Yeah, there was a big rumor they would be headliners for Coachella in 2009 also. We will see.
I too have been a fan for 20 years. Been of fan of all their music and side projects.
And Amanda, I disagree. We do DESERVE something from them. Whether they want to give it to us or not is up to them. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that they owe something to their fans who have stayed loyal through the 11 years of their break up. I’ve met the band quite a few times and what kept me so loyal (other than their amazing music) was the fact that they were such nice guys who were so appreciative of their fans.
Just my opinion though. You are entitled to yours.

      What would you rather have….
      – a new album and they never tour in the US or anywhere else again
      or
      – a US tour, no new album/songs ever

Can I choose between my right arm and left leg instead?

OK, I choose an album, but ONLY if it feels natural for them.

        Ouch.
