Links for a day…(vol:36): Faith No More rider revealed?

October 12, 2009
  • Chilean newspaper El Mercurio has apparently unearthed the rider for Faith No More’s show in Santiago, Chile on 29 October. The newspaper reports that FNM request 20 places for their technical team and band management and 30 for family and friends while the headline is “Security, pornography and a butcher knife requested by Faith No More.” I am unable to even Google-translate the article so I may have missed some details but I can garner that they have requested various wines, whiskey, vodka and champagne as well as pizzas, sushi and local dishes. Among the reading material requested, the paper reports, are newspapers The New York Times, USA Today, The Guardian and The Sun as well as magazines Time and Newsweek.
A full translation from any of our Spanish speakers would be much appreciated.
  • Rumours of a cancellation of Faith No More’s concert in Peru in Lima on 27 October have been dismissed by the concert promoters. Peru.com reports promoters spokesman Fiorella Rodriguez as saying that the concert wil go ahead and that ticket sales are going well. The news comes after reports that Alberto Menacho, reported as a spokesman for the event organisers, had asked fans to buy tickets quickly to avert a cancellation.
  • The Mike Patton Chile site reports that negotiations are advanced to bring Chuck Mosley to Chile to support Faith No More.
  • More details on Chuck Mosley’s New York CMJ festival date, confirmed for 22 October, here.
  • Although not everyone is a fan of Chuck’s We Care a Lot 2.0.
  • For the record, here is the track. Not sure its that bad but certainly not a patch on the original lyrically or musically.

    I’ll just write it here:

    El Mercurio 8 – 10 – 2009

“SECURITY, PORNOGRAPHY AND A BUTCHER’S KNIFE, REQUESTS FAITH NO MORE”

It’s Part of the ritual of any large concert, above all, of international artists, receiving the list of requests of security, foods and comfort. and three weeks before the first show in 15 years of Faith No More in Chile, Mike Patton and his bandmates, have already accomplished with the tradition, but, their requests are further of all conventionalities…

Because is true, Faith No More was out of the stages 11 years, and maybe, the guys are getting white hair and a bit of extra weight, but their party spirit and exentricities are still intact.

the first clue of their party mood, reflects in the number of people coming with them, according to the producers, they have asked for rooms for 20 crew members and beside that, for 30 relatives and friends.

For all of them, their backstage must have several kinds of wine, scotch, and champagne, plus sushi, pizzas, and some local dish. in this matter, Patton has some experience, he was here in march with the italian trio Zu, outside of the backstage catering, they went out to a couple of typical restaurants, where he prefered sea food and local dishes. his favorite drink that time, was pisco sour.

Anyway, the guys want to keep informed of what happens in the US, everyday of their staying in chile, they must have available, The New York Times, USA Today, The Guardian, The Sun and Time and Newsweek Magazines. those are not the only request of “Literature” their request list, the same for all the countries of Second Coming Tour, includes several Porn Magazines, and they specifically ask for ones “as extreme as possible and hopefully, local”

the producers are intrigued with one of the requests of the “epic” guys, they want a butcher’s knife, their use is not specified. Anyway, the producers admit that from the redaction of the request note, the list escape to conventonalisms. by example, they ask for Towels, and they specify that they must be “spongy” and for make a reference of hoe spongy they should be, they send a full-size image of a lovely white bunny…

the shows are taking place the 29 and 30 of October, in the Caupolican Theatre and the Estadio Bicentenario of La Florida, for both shows, the tickets are almost sold out.

but the point that the guys took very seriously, was security. they know that their chilean fans are very faithful and passionate, so they asked for bodyguards for each of them in the hotel and for they stage appearences, but always respecting their privacy.

Since August they are having a break of their dates, in south america starts another tight period for them, because of that, their staying in chile won’t be long, two days before Caupolican Theatre, they play in Lima, Peru, and a Day after their last concert, they play in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“The Second Coming Tour” is the name of of their tour, that started in June 10 in London. none of the tour concerts have kept a unique list of songs, but they have made a full coverage of their discography, and of their most popular songs, “Epic” “We Care a Lot” and their great covers of “Easy” and I Started a Joke”.

That Chuck Mosley song is HORRRIBLE.

Trash. Garbage. I’m talking Limp Bizkit caliber of uber-shit.

It’s up there with Vanilla Ice doing his “hard” cover of Ice-Ice-Baby.

Please, FNM 2.0, drop this guy like a bad habit. Working with Chuck again makes about as much sense as sticking needles in your arm again.

You’re better than this. Don’t sell yourselves short.

‘It’s a dirty song, but someones gotta sing it’ AKA Mike Patton NOT Chuck.

The irony of the song is I care very little about Chuck, he should really get over it!

I think that they should stop talking about Chuck Mosley. The one only song I’ve listened with his vocals is We Care A Lot. And it’s second version is miserable. I don’t know, it sounds like they wanted to do metal but they did crappy punk, and the vocals are horrible. “ple ple plu”, i can’t even understand what is the song about.
I don’t think that it’s smart to get him over FNM concert. His time in FNM ended a long time ago and he doesn’t belong and fit to this band anymore. That’s my opinion.

I love this Chuck Mosley song so much! I just wish Faith No More would have kept him over that Python creep.

I particularly hate Chuck Mosley voice, it makes me not being able to enjoy a pretty good album like Introduce Yourself. And the ¿cover? version of WCAL is far from good (too bad Roddy Bottum was actually part of the recording).
But still I’m looking forward to his reunion with FNM in Santiago, I’m sure it would be a bizarre/funny moment. Hopefully he’ll just sing a couple of old songs, Patton will joke with him and then off the stage.

I’m one of the rare Faith No More fans who loves the Chuck-era stuff just as much as the Patton-era stuff. Call me crazy, but I enjoy We Care A Lot and Introduce Yourself as much as the four Patton albums. I’ll be the first to admit that Chuck isn’t for everyone and can be an acquired taste (hell, it took me a year or so to really get into the first two FNM albums). But the idea of him performing with Faith No More again is exciting and I’d love to see it. Hell, it would be fucking surreal to see at this point!

whats amazing is that if fnm did not reunite and mosley put out a disc no one would know or even care. he really had great timing on this as he is riding the fnm coat tails bandwagon. good for him… i guess.

I can’t wait for the Chile shows no matter who joins them onstage. I wonder how they’ll compare to the Europe shows- songs, energy, performance, crowd and all.

WTF are you at Chuck? It’s not that bad… Well it’s not really good but in a sense of irony I think the guy makes fun of himself. And he’s definitely NOT good singer and NOT Patton – no-one is like Patton, but Mosley have some really great songs with FNM.

Stop the feuding about “Chuck sucks” vs “Patton made FNM” or whatever you guys are saying. Patton and Mosley have respect for each other. If FNM invited Chuck, obviously they wanna play with him. Might not like Chuck but why not for the sheer novelty? If you’re a true FNM fan wouldn’t you love to see both eras captured?

That stuff about the tour rider was a joke. No way would they demand 30 hotel rooms for family and friends and the average amount of crew members for any big rock band (guitar tech, bass tech, drum tech, etc) is 12 people. The butcher’s knife and porno mags had to be down to Patton to joke about.
They didn’t have friends or family travelling with them in Europe (apart from Roddy’s partner and Jon and Billy’s female companions were seen at a couple of Eastern Europe shows) so it’s unlikely they would bring that amount of people with them on a tour.

I was never a fan of Faith No More when Chuck was lead vocalist, as the band weren’t so well known in the UK until Mike Patton took over. I like a lot of the older songs which Chuck originally sang, but as a vocalist it was always Patton who sounded the best anyway. I can’t see him ever joining them at shows.
